What to do when a cria is premature?

Characteristics:
- floppy ears
- no teeth
- weight less then 5 kilos
- ‘gel’ nails
- no energy

First aid :
- dry the cria with a towel
- remove eventual membrane around mouth and eyes
- disinfect umbilicus
- take temperature ( should be > 37.gr.C.)
- take the weight
- out on cria coat
- little bit of honey on the teeth
- give colostrum
- try to feed with milk afterwards ( 50 cc)
